COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Ticket packages for the 2009 International Ice Hockey Federation World Men's Under-18 Championship will go on sale to the general public Saturday (June 21) starting at 10 a.m. CDT.
The event, which is being staged in the United States for the first time in its 10-year history, will take place in Fargo, N.D., and Moorhead, Minn., from April 9-19, 2009.
The primary venue for the 2009 IIHF World Men's Under-18 Championship will be the newly constructed 5,000-seat Urban Plains Center in Fargo. The recently renovated Moorhead Sports Center, with a capacity of 3,000, will also play host for the championship.
Two ticket packages are available for purchase. Ticket Package A boasts reserved seating for 17 games at the Urban Plains Center, including all U.S, Canada and medal games. The cost is $260, with a $75 deposit due at the time of reservation. Meanwhile, Ticket Package B includes general admission seating for 14 games at the Moorhead Sports Center for $130, with $50 due at booking.

Outgoing Brian Fishman Intern to Take Ann Arbor, Mich., Post
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Chris Peters, who most recently served as USA Hockey's 2007-08 Brian Fishman Intern, was today named as the coordinator of media relations and marketing for USA Hockey's National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor, Mich.

As the Brian Fishman Intern, Peters provided assistance with various media and public relations projects, event promotions and publishing initiatives, including work with USA Hockey Magazine. Peters produced editorial content for three media guides and served as the primary media contact for both the 2007 U.S. National Junior Evaluation Camp in Lake Placid, N.Y., and the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team at the 2008 International Paralympic Committee Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships in Marlborough, Mass.
Prior to his time at USA Hockey, the Chicago native served as the assistant general manager for the Iowa State University men's ice hockey team, a member of the American Collegiate Hockey Association. His duties included producing and hosting the team's weekly television show, play-by-play commentary for all games, marketing, promotions, sales, as well as managing the team's interns. Peters, a 2006 graduate of Iowa State with a degree in journalism and mass communication, replaces Jon Oman. He will begin his duties in Ann Arbor on July 10. NOTES: The Brian Fishman Internship is awarded annually to an outstanding college graduate who is pursuing a career in athletic media relations . As previously announced, Carly Peters is the 2008-09 Brian Fishman Intern. She begins her duties in Colorado Springs on June 23.
USA Hockey Player Development Camps Set to Begin
Nine Camps to be Held Over Seven-Week Span in Lake Placid, Rochester, St. Cloud COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Hockey will host 1,300 hockey players at nine player development camps around the country this summer. The events, which begin this weekend, will be split between the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y., the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn., and the ESL Sports Centre in Rochester, N.Y.
The weeklong sessions provide many of the United States' finest young hockey players with concentrated on- and off-ice training and instruction, as well as the chance to compete against other top players from their age group. Each of the Boys' Player Development Camps will each feature 12 teams of 18 players from across the country. In addition to daily instruction and practices, teams will compete in five games. The Girls' Select 14 and Select 17 Player Development Camps will showcase five teams of 17 or 18 players, while six teams consisting of 17 or 18 players will compete at the Girls' Select 15 and Select 16 Player Development Camps. Finally, the Sled Hockey Player Development Camp will offer instruction to more than 40 disabled athletes.
Over 265 coaches from youth, high school, prep, college and professional ranks will instruct at the camps.
The USA Hockey Player Development Camps are administered by the Player Development Committee under the direction of chairperson Jim Smith (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) and Kevin McLaughlin (Colorado Springs, Colo.), USA Hockey's senior director of hockey development.
On the boys' side, Ron Sellnow (St. Louis Park, Minn.) will serve as the director of the Select 14 Camp, while Jack McCatherin (Littleton, Mass.) will serve in the same role for the Select 15 Camp. The Boys' Select 16 Camp will be under the direction of Mike Mulhall (Matthews, N.C.), while Ward Johnsen (Escanaba, Mich.) will serve as director of the Boys' Select 17 Camp.
Directing the Girls' Select 17 Player Development Camp will be Mary Ann Robinson (Manitowoc, Wis.), while Mark Johnson (Verona, Wis.) will be the on-ice director. Joe Eppolito (Clayton, N.Y.) will head the Girls' Select 16 Camp, with Katey Stone (Arlington, Mass.) as the on-ice director. Dave Witting (Beloit, Wis.) will serve as director for the Girls' Select 15 Camp and Jackie Barto (Lewis Center, Ohio) will lead the on-ice portion. Finally Carol Mullins (Wilder, Vt.) will direct the Girls' Select 14 Camp, while Tom Broderick (Lake Placid, N.Y.) and Shelley Looney (Morristown, N.J.) will cover the on-ice direction.
The Sled Hockey Player Development Camp will be under the direction of J.J. O'Connor (Mt. Prospect, Ill.).

Summer Sled Week to Descend on Rochester
First-Ever Sled Week to Take Place at ESL Sports Centre, June 21-28
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Hockey will conduct its first ever Summer Sled Week at the ESL Sports Centre in Rochester, N.Y., beginning on Saturday (June 21) and running through June 28. Three events - the Sled Hockey Player Development Camp, U.S. National U20 Sled Team tryouts and U.S. National Sled Team tryouts - will highlight the weeklong activities.
The third annual Sled Hockey Player Development Camp will take place from June 21-25. More than 40 male and female sled hockey players ages 14-20 will take part in the five-day camp, which will include daily practices and games. J.J. O'Connor (Mt. Prospect, Ill.), chair of USA Hockey's Disabled Section, will serve as the camp director. Ray Maluta (Rochester, N.Y.), head coach of the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team, and Bill Corbo, Jr. (Merrimack, N.H.), assistant coach of the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team, will serve as the co-head coaches of the camp.
Adding to the camp's coaching staff will be Steve Cash (Overland, Mo.), Taylor Chace (Hampton Falls, N.H.), Jim Connelly (Egg Harbor City, N.J.), Lonnie Hannah (Boeme, Texas) and Tim Jones (Mt. Ephraim, N.J.), all of whom are Paralympians and have been on U.S. National Sled Hockey Team.
The purpose of the camp is to identify, train and educate the top sled-hockey athletes. During the camp, players are evaluated by USA Hockey's national evaluation staff. The competition gives players the opportunity to measure themselves against others in the same age group, gain knowledge about their development and be exposed to top-level coaches. It is also designed to teach sled players independence.
The U.S. National U20 Sled Team tryout, set for June 25-26, is open to all disabled sled players under 20 years of age. The team will compete in various national and international events during the 2008-09 season. For more information, contact Tom Brake at sledhockey@verizon.net.
