COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Aided by a pair of shutout victories over Union College, the University of Wisconsin (190 points) received all 19 first-place votes and retained the No. 1 spot on the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll.
Mercyhurst College (168) held onto the No. 2 spot on the poll. The University of New Hampshire (135), St. Lawrence University (133) and the University of Minnesota Duluth (124) round out the top five.
Eight of the top-10 teams on the poll will be in action this weekend, highlighted by No. 3 New Hampshire traveling to No. 4 St. Lawrence for a weekend series Friday (Oct. 5) and Saturday (Oct. 6).
This Week's Top-10 Match-ups: Friday, October 5 - No. 3 New Hampshire @ No. 4 St. Lawrence; Saturday, October 6 - No. 3 New Hampshire @ No. 4 St. Lawrence.
About the Poll: The 11th annual USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the six NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the American Hockey Coaches Association and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.
